Older patients need clean teeth too!!

The reason senior pets are handled more cautiously for anesthesia is because they are more likely to have a systemic illness. That’s why additional tests are run on older pets prior to scheduling procedures requiring anesthesia. These tests usually include a complete blood panel, urinalysis, chest x-rays and a BNP test which checks for certain forms of heart disease. If your older doggy is not a good candidate for anesthesia, it is still very important to get his or her teeth cleaned! Here are Jasmine and Ben, 16 years basset hound and 15 years old labrador. They both got their non anesthesic dental cleanings with Miami Natural Pet Care and did very well.
